Since the Surgical Technologist program got its initial accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) in November 2013, our students are now eligible to sit for the national certification exam. Swedish Institute, true to its form, took one step further. We applied to be an on-site web based administrator of the national board exam and we got it! Our first class of graduates took the exam at the school on July 21, 2014. So now, we are a one stop shop for surgical technology, from admissions to certification and employment, we give our students a real career in a customer service-oriented friendly box approach. Once you sign on with Swedish Institute, you will become a professional by the time you leave.
Medical Billing and Coding Certificate program was initially offered during the Fall 2013. The first cohort group will graduate at the end of this Summer Quarter 2014. Upon review of the curriculum, NHA granted recognition of the program (thus able to sit for the national certification exam) and also allows the Institute to have our graduates take the online web-based exam in our campus.
Another student-centered service that Swedish instituted this year was the incorporation of the application/examination fees in their tuition. This will further support our graduates to focus more on passing the exam. It will also allow the program to monitor the progress of our student’s learning outcomes as well as their career placement opportunities.
